Come essere cortesi in italiano
[English below]
Come ben sai, la lingua italiana è costellata di “tempi verbali”.
I tempi verbali, tuttavia, non servono solo per esprimere il “tempo” di un’azione, bensì anche per esprimerne il modo.
I modi possono esprimere un’azione finita o continua, ripetuta, ideale, un’opinione soggettiva o un dato di fatto e molto altro.
Oggi, però, voglio soffermarmi su come un tempo italiano in particolare possa esprimere la cortesia.
As you well know, the Italian language is full of 'verb tenses'.
Verb tenses, however, are not only used to express the 'time' of an action, but also to express its manner.
Modes can express a finite or continuous action, repeated, ideal, a subjective opinion or a fact, and much more.
Today, however, I want to focus on how a particular Italian tense can express politeness.
